Guest article by Millicom shares launch of new Educacion conTigo platform

In April of 2024, Millicom (Tigo) launched its digital platform educacioncontigo.com. The platform combines two of Millicom’s flagship digital education programs, Conectadas and Maestr@s Conectad@s, into one location where users will have access to free education tools. The new platform aims at enhancing the availability and impact of these programs and creating synergies with diverse stakeholders to create a broader educational offer. This initiative aligns with Broadband Advocacy Target 4 of the Broadband Commission, which focuses on promoting digital skills and literacy. By providing accessible educational resources, Millicom’s platform directly contributes to advancing digital literacy and bridging the digital divide.

Broadband Commission Advocacy Target 4: Promote digital skills development

By 2025, 60% of youth and adults should have achieved at least a minimum level of proficiency in sustainable digital skills

The Conectadas program was created with the goal of reducing the gender digital divide in mobile data usage. The program provides digital literacy and entrepreneurship training to women and adolescent girls in Latin America, creating a springboard for social and economic opportunity.

Conectadas empowers women, both professionals and non-professionals, with the benefits of technology and the internet.

This platform allows women to take courses and learn about topics such as:

  • Social networks
  • Social networks for business
  • Personal finance
  • Personal finance for business
  • Digital tools

Implemented in all 9 countries in which Millicom (Tigo) operates, the Conectadas program has educated over 955,856 women and girls (since the launch of the program until December 31, 2023).

In order to support teachers and administrators struggling to keep up with closing schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, Millicom (Tigo) developed the
Maestr@s Conectad@s program. Course topics include digital tools, PowerPoint, Canva, Zoom, educational innovation, storytelling, gamification, use of social networks, digital tools for the classroom, and neuroeducation, among many more. The program aims to give support to teachers in their journey to making their education virtual and by doing so benefiting a wider, limitless audience of students.  Since its launch, the program trained over 500,000 teachers (until December 31, 2023)

The digital platform educacioncontigo.com
will enable thousands of people to interact with digital environments in new ways, whether through the Conectadas or Maestr@s Conectad@s Program.
