​​​The Working Group on Broadband and Gender’s 3rd onsite meeting: 20 September 2014, New York, USA​

On 20 September 2014, the Working Group on Broadband and Gender convened for its 3rd onsite meeting in New York, USA at the UN Women HQ.

Held in advance of the 10th Meeting of the Broadband Commission, the Working Group meeting was led by Co-Chairs: Ms. Helen Clark, Administrator, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women.  It focused on current developments and progress made in the area of broadband and gender since the issuance of its 2013 report Doubling Digital Opportunities: Enhancing the Inclusion of Women & Girls in the Information Society​

Members of the Working Group, including Broadband Commissioners, External Experts and invited leaders from the ICT industry, discussed important trends and made predictions regarding the future of broadband and gender. 

The Working Group debate concentrated around the vital issues in relation to gender equality around access to and application of broadband, the outcomes of its work for this year, and how best to move forward in the view of Post-2015 development agenda and Beijing+20 review process.
